Your role will be varied from day to day from helping people get up, washed, and dressed in a morning, to administering medication and assisting people to get out into the community. We strive to help people live a fulfilled and enriched life through everything we do.

- In addition to the role of a HCA you have the following key responsibilities:
- Book and carry out care certificate observations in the allotted time frame for your allocated new HCA’s and sign them off when you consider them competent.
- Book and complete unannounced visits/spot checks for all of your allocated HCA’s on time
- Offer guidance and support to your team of homecare assistants by phone, text or simply meeting for a coffee
- Take the lead for ensuring medication is ordered on time, MAR charts are kept up to date and are signed correctly, also ensuring your team understand the importance of correct medication administration
- Take the lead in ensuring the service is meeting the client’s needs and the visits are effective. For example, ensuring food is always stocked, the clients receive the support they need in appropriate time and feed back to client coordinators any concerns or ideas surrounding clients
- Be the first person the new HCA’s shadow
- Visit HCA’s in client’s homes should they need extra support and guidance
- Be a named mentor for new recruits offering opportunity for phone calls and face to face conversations
- Attend induction training to discuss with the new recruits your role and how you will be supporting them
- Organise and hold staff meetings around complex clients if necessary
- Ensure there is adequate stock of all client paperwork including MAR Charts, activity logs etc.
- Be an ambassador and uphold the dress code, ensure high standards of care and promote best practice
- Encourage and promote a positive and friendly culture amongst the other HCA’s and discourage negativity
- Always promote the good name and reputation of Westmorland Homecare
- Ensure you meet all your allocated new clients within a week of them joining the service (either by attending client socials or home visits)
